Shelby and Brian were married on New Years Eve. What an amazing way to ring in the new year with the people you love the most!
It was a bitter cold day but Shelby and Brian – and their wedding party – were real troupers during the picture taking outside, which honestly didn’t last too long.
10 minutes. That’s all we could stand on the windy Roberto Clemente Bridge. But, I’d say in 10 minutes we all did pretty darn good with getting some classic Pittsburgh photos! These aren’t the typical wedding photos you see on Pinterest or even on my blog – usually there is natural light and SUN for most of the bridal portraits, but when you get married at night – the beauty below ensues!
I can’t even begin to describe the joy of working with Brian & Shelby. What an amazing couple and I can’t even imagine all the awesome things that await them in the future! Congrats, Shelby & Brian. It was my honor to be your photographer!

Here’s my favorite from their wedding. I already have this blown up to a huge canvas and hung on a wall in the studio.
Let’s start at the beginning. The girls were having some great fun with selfies while getting ready for the ceremony. They were all so happy and excited, and I loved being around lovely ladies with that spirit!
As a Pittsburgh wedding photographer, I adore mother/daughter moments. I promised Lola that I would get some photos of her and Shelby, as I had shared with her that I don’t have any special photos of me and my mom from my wedding.
The new Mr. & Mrs. – I love first kiss photos. So much joy! And the church was absolutely gorgeous!
What do you do with limited time and terrible cold outside? You opt to take some photos inside, and the church had a wonderful grotto that provided a nice backdrop for us.
Time to hit the bridge!
It was so windy on the bridge that Shelby’s veil had an agenda of it’s own. It took some effort to get it to stay in place so I just embraced the wind and position of the veil!
I love this photo because the darkness of it makes for a very romantic moment.
Time to get the fun started. As a wedding photographer I love when my brides and grooms are able to participate in cocktail hour. It’s important that they enjoy all aspects of their day and I got thru some hotel photos quickly so that they could spend time with their bridal party!
Shelby loves the Vanity Fair look of large group photos and wanted to try something out with her wedding party. I was more than happy to oblige. With it being New Years Eve, there weren’t many places in the hotel that were empty enough to put a large group of people but I saw this bench and we went for it. Isn’t this the coolest group of people!?! I was so LUCKY to be the one chosen to photograph this wonderful group!

I simply LOVE capturing the fun of receptions. And what do I love even more – seeing my bride and groom on the dance floor with their family and friends! These next two photos were the last two photos I took that night. I love that Shelby and Brian were on the dance floor surrounded by the people they love.
