FAQ – Hair and Makeup

Makeup, hair?  Where do I start with all this for my shoot?

Not to worry, I have you covered.  I don’t want anyone worrying about the glam side of this process so hair and makeup is always included in your boudoir session!  Let me put you at ease!

Not Sure What to Do with Your Makeup for Your Boudoir Photo Shoot? Here’s What to Expect in Your Consultation with Our Hair and Makeup Artists

One of the most common concerns that clients have when booking a boudoir photo shoot is what to do with their makeup. They want to look their best and enhance their natural beauty, but they’re not sure where to start. Part of the boudoir experience I offer includes professional hair styling and makeup application.  You will feel confident and prepared for your photo shoot!

The Consultation Process

Once you arrive to the studio for your photo session, you will have a consultation with your hair and makeup artists.  During this consultation, the stylist will determine your preferences for the look and what you need from your session.  They will ask questions about the client’s skin type, hair type, typical routine, and personal style to create a customized look that enhances their natural beauty.  All you need to do is show up with a fresh, clean face, and we will take care of the rest!

The Makeup Look

Our hair and makeup artists will work with you to create a makeup look that complements your outfits and the overall theme of your photo shoot. My artists understand the light and angles that I use during sessions and know how to apply your makeup that will complement those things.  If you have ideas on what you’d like your makeup to look like, you are free to share those with us.  We will ask you whether you want natural, amped up, or full glam makeup!

Note:  The stylist has everything we need for makeup application, including false lashes.  If there are any products of your own that you absolutely must use, please bring those with you to your session.  For example, some clients love the lipstick they have in their personal collection, so I recommend you bring those things with you.

The Hair Style

The hair and makeup artist will also work with you to create a hair style that complements the style of your session. While most clients like curls in their hair, you can choose any style you like.  We have experience with all hair types.  The stylists will take into account your hair type and length to create a style that is both beautiful and practical.  We recommend clean hair – you should not treat your hair with any styling irons prior to your session.

The Final Look

After the consultation, the hair and makeup artists will create the full look on the day of the photo shoot. They will take their time to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident with your look before we start shooting.  We always ask that you be truthful with us.  If there is something you don’t like about the finished look, please speak up and say something.  We want you to be happy with your look and love it when you express an opinion!

In conclusion, your consultation process with the hair and makeup artists is designed to help you feel confident and prepared for your boudoir photo shoot. By customizing the makeup and hair styles to your preferences and needs, we create a look that enhances your natural beauty and complements the overall theme of the photo shoot.

Your Strength: Enough is Enough

You have all the power within you!

You simply need to recognize and harness that power to make the shifts you need in your life!

The Strength in Saying “Enough is Enough”

Sometimes in life, we find ourselves in situations that are no longer serving us. We may be in a toxic relationship, a dead-end job, or a situation that is causing us more harm than good. In these moments, it takes strength to say “enough is enough” and make a change.

Saying “enough is enough” is not always easy. It can be scary to leave our comfort zones and step into the unknown. We may be afraid of what the future holds or worried about the consequences of our actions. But the truth is, there is strength in saying “enough is enough” and making a change for the better.

When we say “enough is enough,” we’re taking a stand for ourselves and our own well-being. We’re acknowledging that we deserve better and that we’re not willing to settle for less than we deserve. This can be a powerful act of self-love and self-respect, and it can help us to build a stronger sense of self-worth.

Saying “enough is enough” can also help us to break free from negative patterns and cycles. When we’re stuck in a situation that is no longer serving us, we may feel like we’re in a rut or a never-ending cycle of negativity. But when we say “enough is enough” and make a change, we’re taking a step towards breaking free from those patterns and creating a new, positive path for ourselves.

But why is saying “enough is enough” so important? It’s important because it allows us to create a life that is aligned with our values and beliefs. When we’re no longer willing to settle for less than we deserve, we’re taking control of our own destiny and creating a life that is true to who we are.

Saying “enough is enough” can also be a powerful act of courage and resilience. It takes strength to confront our fears and make a change, especially when it involves leaving our comfort zones or going against the grain. But in doing so, we’re showing that we’re not afraid to take risks, to be different, and to live life on our own terms.

ENACT YOUR POWER!  Saying “enough is enough” is a powerful act of strength that we can perform for ourselves. It allows us to value ourselves and our own well-being, break free from negative patterns and cycles, create a life that is aligned with our values and beliefs, and live life on our own terms. So the next time you’re in a situation that is no longer serving you, remember that you have the power to say “enough is enough” and make a change. Be brave, be bold, and say “enough is enough” with strength and courage.

The Myth of Thinness

I had a client ask how much weight she needs to lose before she does a boudoir photo shoot.  I said, “Zero.”  And, the tears started.

You don’t need to lose weight to do ANYTHING in your life!  But, the way you perceive your weight and body dictates so much of your life – particularly what you do and DON’T do in your life.

Gain weight, lose weight – I don’t care.  Your weight doesn’t mean anything to me!

The Myth of Thinness: Why Being Thin Won’t Solve All Your Body Image Problems

We live in a society that places a high value on thinness. Everywhere we turn, we’re bombarded with images of thin, beautiful bodies. We’re told that being thin is the key to happiness, success, and love. But the truth is, the myth of thinness is just that – a myth. Being thin won’t solve all your problems with your body image, and here’s why.

Body Image Issues Run Deeper Than Weight

Body image issues are complex and multifaceted. They’re not just about weight or size. Body image issues can stem from a variety of factors, including social pressures, cultural norms, past experiences, and mental health issues. Even if you were to achieve your “ideal” weight, you may still struggle with negative body image if you haven’t addressed these underlying issues.

Thinness Does Not Equal Health

Another problem with the myth of thinness is that it equates thinness with health. But the truth is, thinness does not necessarily equal health. People of all sizes can be healthy or unhealthy. It’s possible to be thin and have health issues, just as it’s possible to be larger and be in excellent health. Focusing on weight as the sole indicator of health can be dangerous and misleading.

Thinness Can Be Unattainable and Unsustainable

For many people, achieving and maintaining thinness is simply not possible or sustainable. Our bodies have a natural set point weight, and trying to force them to be thinner than that can be harmful. Dieting and restrictive eating can lead to disordered eating patterns, weight cycling, and other health issues. It’s important to focus on healthy habits, rather than a specific number on the scale.

Thinness Does Not Guarantee Happiness

Finally, the myth of thinness suggests that being thin will automatically make you happier and more fulfilled. But the truth is, happiness comes from within. No amount of weight loss or external validation can make up for a lack of self-love and acceptance. Focusing on external factors like weight or appearance can actually detract from your overall well-being and happiness.

The myth of thinness is just that – a myth. Being thin won’t solve all your problems with your body image, and it can even create new ones. Instead of striving for thinness, focus on cultivating a healthy relationship with your body. This means prioritizing self-care, practicing self-compassion, and accepting your body as it is. When you focus on these things, you’ll find that your body image issues become less important, and you can live a happier, healthier and more fulfilling life.

You Don’t Need Someone to Save You

There is a story females are told when they are younger – a young handsome prince will come to save you from your life.  Give you everything you dreamed of and you’ll live happily ever after.  This is how it was for me.  All those Disney movies I loved all seemed to have a damsel in distress, with a prince waiting to sweep her off her feet.

This was the story of my life.  Instead of focusing on me, I was always waiting around for my prince.  When I didn’t get married right after college, I felt like a failure even though I was beginning to build my corporate career.  I had much to look forward to but always felt like I was wrong.

Well, I am MY OWN young handsome prince and I don’t need anyone else BUT ME!

You Don’t Need Someone Else to Save You

It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that we need someone else to save us. We look to others to make us feel loved, valued, and whole. We think that if we could just find the right person, they would make everything better.

But the truth is, we don’t need someone else to save us. We just need to stand up for ourselves and know that we’re enough as we are. Here’s why:

You’re Capable of Saving Yourself

You’re stronger than you think. You have the power to change your life and create the future you want. You don’t need someone else to do it for you. You just need to believe in yourself and take action.

You’re Enough as You Are

You don’t need someone else to make you feel complete. You’re already complete on your own. You have your own strengths, talents, and abilities that make you unique and valuable. You don’t need someone else to validate your worth.

You Deserve to Be Treated Well

You don’t need someone else to save you from a bad situation. You deserve to be treated well, and you have the right to stand up for yourself when someone mistreats you. You don’t need someone else to rescue you. You can rescue yourself by setting boundaries and standing up for what you deserve.

You Can Build a Support System

You don’t need someone else to save you, but that doesn’t mean you have to do everything alone. You can build a support system of friends, family, and professionals who can help you when you need it. You can lean on them for support and guidance, but you don’t need them to save you.

You’re in Control of Your Life

Ultimately, you’re in control of your life. You get to decide what you want and how you want to live. You don’t need someone else to save you because you have the power to create the life you want.

Once again:  you don’t need someone else to save you. You’re capable of saving yourself, you’re enough as you are, you deserve to be treated well, you can build a support system, and you’re in control of your life. Remember these things the next time you feel like you need someone else to save you. You’ve got this!

FAQ – What is Your Wardrobe Collection?

Continuing my FAQ series here on the blog with a common question about wardrobe!

Lots of clients ask whether they should bring their own lingerie or if I supply the lingerie.

The good news for clients is that I have a specially curate collection of over 400 (almost 500) pieces that clients are free to use for their session.  While clients do bring items themselves, they are always free to look at the collection and pull pieces that interest them.  If you attend a pre session consultation, you can look at the collection and even try things on.

I have everything from bodysuits, teddys, bra and panty sets, fishnets, robes, wings, jewelry, crowns, cuffs and collars….and so much more!!  I have spent a great deal of time and investment into a complete collection.

Here is some more information on what I have.

The 400 Piece Lingerie Collection at My Boudoir Studio: A Guide to Choosing the Perfect Pieces

As the owner of a boudoir studio, I understand the importance of providing my clients with a wide range of lingerie options to choose from. That’s why I have curated a collection of 400 pieces of lingerie, ranging from delicate lace to edgy leather, to suit every style and preference. Here’s a guide to choosing the perfect pieces from my collection:

The Basics

My collection includes classic pieces such as bra and panty sets.  There are also simple panties to be included as well should we need something basic under an outfit.   These are perfect for creating a timeless and elegant look, and they work well with any outfit or setting.

The Bold and the Beautiful

For clients who want to make a statement, my collection includes bold and colorful pieces, including corsets, bodysuits, and teddies. These pieces are perfect for adding a pop of color or creating a dramatic look.

The Delicate and the Feminine

For clients who prefer a more delicate and feminine look, my collection includes pieces made from soft lace, silk, and chiffon. These pieces are perfect for creating a romantic and dreamy atmosphere.  One of my favorites is the white butterfly robe!

The Edgy and the Naughty

For clients who want to push the boundaries and explore their wild side, my collection includes pieces made from leather, vinyl, and mesh. And oh, those fishnets! These pieces are perfect for creating an edgy and daring look.

The Perfect Fit

No matter what style or preference my clients have, I make sure that each piece in my collection fits perfectly. My collection is extremely size inclusive – I offer a range of sizes, from XS to 5XL!

The Cleanliness and Hygiene

I understand that cleanliness and hygiene are crucial when it comes to lingerie. That’s why I make sure to clean and sanitize each piece 4 TIMES after every use.  See my post from last week about my cleaning procedures.

In conclusion, my collection of 400 pieces of lingerie is the perfect way to add a touch of glamour, elegance, and sensuality to any boudoir photoshoot. With a wide range of styles, sizes, and materials to choose from, my clients are sure to find the perfect pieces to suit their preferences and needs.

Please note:  Using the collection is different from me styling your session!  When styling, I shop and choose everything that you will wear.  You arrive the day of your session with 8-10 options!
