Last year, I had this idea for some Sparkle and Shine sessions.  I expressed this idea to one of my clients and she was game on being my test for my setup.  When I get these ideas, I have to test them out before offering them to clients.

After months of anticipation, pinning ideas and looking at outfits, the shoot happened.  It was magical!  Not to sound corny but it was so great.  The setup, however, wasn’t easy!  It took 2 days to do the setup and the first attempt to do it wasn’t proving to be as easy as I hoped.  I had some curtain lights that I had to setup and taken down three separate times before I figured out what worked.  But, I had it all setup when my client arrived and it worked perfectly!

The outfits…oh, the outfits!  Sequins and shine was what I was all about.  Anything that sparkles is something I love to look at.  We used a mix of different outfits – a few bodysuits – that really accentuated her beauty and the sparkle wall!  I also used a couple different light setups.

So what was all this for???

First and foremost, it was for fun!  When I want to spark some creativity, I do shoots like this.  Some crazy idea that I get to be 100% creative!

Second, I wanted to offer special VERY LIMITED sessions to clients.  I’ll be having sparkle and shine sessions later this year.  I’m not sure if they will be mini sessions but I’ll be having a few days of sparkle and shine sessions.  Unfortunately, because of the amount of time it takes to set this up, I can’t keep it up for every shoot.

This job is tons of fun for me!  I love sharing this experience with my clients…tons of laughs, smiles and yet super awesome photos are created!  Life isn’t meant to be serious all the time and I love giving this unique experience to my clients.  We do have just a tad bit of fun!

So, here’s what she had to say:

1) Why did you decide to invest in a boudoir photo shoot?  I wanted to do a boudoir shoot for a couple reasons. One, a gift for my husband, and two, to boost my self confidence. Growing up, I was made fun of regularly for my late physical development, small chest, stringy hair, braces, big glasses, and many other things. I have always carried a warped self image and felt this would not only help to change that, but be an unexpected surprise to the love of my life.

2) How did you feel about yourself before your photo shoot?  I felt insecure; not pretty enough or didn’t have the right body to do a shoot like this. I also felt unsure, so much so I fought with myself to not cancel at least three times. I was embarrassed at first to even mention it to anyone.

3) How did you feel about yourself after your photo shoot?  To be 100 percent honest, initially I was still a bit unsure of how the photos would turn out, thinking I would end up looking boyish, but i smiled the whole way home. I thought about the pictures I saw on Maura’s website and i remembered asking her to make me look as pretty as those women. I was happy i did it, and Maura made me feel as though I was the most beautiful woman ever.

4) Describe your session in 3 words?  Empowering, fun, entertaining.

5) What was your favorite part of the boudoir photo shoot?  Maura for certain. She is so funny, down to earth and genuine. I wanted to stay all day just to chat with her. She is such an artist and is so modest about her talent. She honestly made me feel like a model and made me laugh the whole time. I can’t wait to do another shoot.

6) What would you say to other women who are considering a boudoir photo shoot?  DO IT! No matter how you feel you look, Maura does wonderful things, not just with her camera, but with her words and actions as well. My perception of myself changed after I saw my pictures, I couldn’t believe it was me.

Who is She? A most fabulous nurse who is constantly serving others!

Why Did She Do a Boudoir Photo Shoot?  She wanted to give her fiancé something that was going to knock his socks off!  And, boy did she ever!

What Were Her Lingerie Selections?  Lots of great stuff as usual!  I think her black corset was from Yandy; she had a bodysuit and teddy from Victoria’s Secret; we used her veil and I strategically place tulle around her; a bra & panty set; and I put her in one of my tops right at the end of the session!

Favorite Moment: The amount of laughs we shared was something special.  And, she made me come alive even more in getting to be creative with so many shots!  She even has a couple poses named after her!  (Note – I name my poses after certain clients who try it first!)  I’m hoping to have her back some day…I’m sure her husband would love to have her here again! <3
