Pretty In Pink {Pittsburgh Boudoir Photographer}

What an absolutely beautiful woman! I had such an awesome time during her photo shoot – so much fun and so many laughs. This beautiful woman did a boudoir photo shoot as a celebration after significant weight loss. I can so relate to that – truth be told – I used to weigh over 350 pounds. Truth.

I worked hard to lose weight with diet and exercise. After all the weight came off, I had a tummy tuck to improve my look. It was the best decision ever! So, when someone comes to me with a similar story, I can easily relate to them. It’s still a daily struggle to make the right choices, and sometimes I still see that larger girl staring at me in the mirror. But, I know I’m healthier than I was all those years ago!

If I had known of boudoir photography 10 years ago, I would have done exactly what she did!

There is no better way to celebrate the achievements of weight loss! Women deserve a day of pampering after all the hard work it takes to lose weight.

She’s You – A Testimonial {Pittsburgh Boudoir Photographer}

As a Pittsburgh boudoir photographer, it warms my heart to receive a pittsburgh boudoir photography reviews from my clients. This testimonial from a boudoir client after her photo shoot deserves a blog post of it’s own. I’ve had the pleasure of working with many amazing women, and I feel a sense of pride (and honor) when I receive feedback like this. This testimonial really resonated with me personally and I’m happy she let me share this with you all.

This beautiful woman wrote a lovely email to me that is really for anyone considering a boudoir photo shoot. Here’s what she had to say —

To the girls contemplating boudoir:

I am not a model. I have never had my photograph featured in magazines or been professionally photographed outside of this experience and my wedding. I am a size 12 on a good day, size 14 most day, wine and food loving, sometimes active, sometimes not, 30 something year old with body issues. I have hips and curves. I am you.

This is my second boudoir shoot. My first one was as a wedding gift to my husband. I was super nervous and some of the people I told about the shoot were less than supportive, making me question the decision even more. Let me just tell you that every doubt I ever had was gone the second I met Maura. It was like being reunited with on old friend. She makes you super comfortable. My favorite thing about working with Maura is her enthusiasm. She gets super excited about the pictures she is taking and makes you feel as if you are the most beautiful person ever. The photos were beyond what I could have ever imagined. The whole experience was super empowering. I have never felt more beautiful, especially in such small amounts of clothes. Because of that, I hold my head higher now, am more proud of my body and all its flaws, and stopped focusing on all my imperfections. (And my husband loved the gift, if you were wondering.)

I would highly recommend boudoir photography to every woman. It is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. And trust me when I say, Maura is the person to shoot you. She is simply THE BEST Pittsburgh has. Her pictures are sexy, sultry, beautiful, glamorous, and just perfection. Her eye for detail is amazing and she will do anything for her clients. I can not sing her praise enough. I would recommend her a thousand times over.

Her words make my heart happy! Truly truly happy! Boudoir photography brings me and my clients so much joy!

Oh twins {Pittsburgh Children Photographer}

I have no words for this cuteness! 🙂

Their mother, Sabrina, was one of my bridesmaids and I always have the best time with her. Meeting her children was loads of fun – I have no idea how she does it! Honestly. But, she’s an amazing mother to these awesome twins!

Is a boudoir photo shoot fun? Heck Yea! {Pittsburgh Boudoir Photographer}

I am constantly asked why I love boudoir photography so much. Aside from my normal reasons that you can read throughout my blog there is one that I haven’t mentioned in awhile…..and that is …..

F-U-N!!!!!!!

There is absolutely no shortage of laughs throughout the session – I find myself smiling, my client is smiling, we’re laughing, dancing, being crazy. And, really just enjoying our time together. I love to share this experience with women! Whether it’s me making fun of myself or starting to dance crazy or making weird noises or sharing ridiculous stories, we’re always having FUN!!!! I really love to laugh and it makes the session so much for for both of us … my passion for this job certainly comes thru in the shoot.

Boudoir Dos & Don’ts Debate – Pinterest {Pittsburgh Boudoir Photographer}

First of all, I LOVE Pinterest. Just like everyone else I know, I have an addicion to Pinterest! There are so many amazing and awesome things on the internet and Pinterest is a great way to organize all that information.

As a photographer, I have a love hate relationship with Pinterest. Today’s blog post is about the use of Pinterest to help plan out your boudoir session. We’ll go thru the Dos (Pros) and Don’ts (Cons) and then I’ll give you my verdict.

Do Pinterest

What a great and amazing forum for you to look at boudoir photos and setups. It’s also great to help you prepare for how your photographer will be posing you. There are tons of boudoir images to look at – sometimes it can get overwhelming. It’s also great to use Pinterest for hair and makeup ideas for your session. And, finally, it can certainly help in picking outfits for your photo shoot. I even have a board specifically for lingerie that would be great for boudoir shoots.

Don’t Pinterest

My one big problem with Pinterest is that most people you see in the photos are models. And, lets just face it – none of us are models. Sometimes the photos can give you an unrealistic idea of how your photos will look. Like above, it’s great to get ideas from Pinterest but it is not in your best interest to present your photographer with 50 pins and ask that all those poses be re-created. That sucks the creativity out of your session! Also, everyone’s body is different and your photographer is going to pose you in a way that is flattering for your body.

Never compare yourself to the women in the photos on Pinterest! EVER! Your photos will represent who you are, your body, YOUR BEAUTY!

The Verdict

Use Pinterest sparingly. Get some ideas for outfits and poses, share those with your photographer then have fun during your session! The most effective way to use Pinterest – create a board specific for your session so you can share ideas with your photographer. If you see some makeup that you like, pin it a an idea for the stylist!
