Black, Gold & White Boudoir {Pittsburgh Boudoir Photographer}

Being a Pittsburgh boudoir photographer, I have the pleasure of photographing many ladies and tons of different lingerie. I love the variety that my clients bring to their boudoir session and I try to get thru as many outfits as I can before we both collapse. 🙂

If you follow my blog and my work, you know that I have a white scene as one of my setups for boudoir photo shoots. Well, my client brought a black and gold outfit and I love how it popped while we were photographing in the white!

My boudoir shoots are tons of fun and this session was no exception. We kept joking that we’re both the best at everything – so many laughs in between capturing some gorgeous images.

Look at those gorgeous eyes!! She’s stunning!

I couldn’t live without my chandelier! Yes, the chandelier is used for so much more that just lighting a room! I love how I am able to use the chandelier to frame my photos. When I first installed it into the boudoir studio, I thought it was a little low but after the first photo shoot with it in I knew it was perfect! The trick is positioning the bed in the perfect spot. As my clients can attest, sometimes it takes some work to do so. 🙂

She ROCKED her session! What a blast! Thanks to my beautiful client for allowing this Pittsburgh boudoir photographer to share her photos on my blog. I am always so proud of my clients when they step out of their comfort zone to do something for someone else. These photos are a wedding day gift to her fiancé and she told me that he’s going to be so surprised when he opens his gift. This is something completely out of her comfort zone … but … can you even tell?!?! I love that I can make ladies feel comfortable in front of the camera – they are able to see their own beauty in a new way and I truly love this job!

Caity {Pittsburgh Senior Photographer}

Well, Caity’s senior session in the strip district is finally on the blog! We had a BLAST during her session. Yes, I say this a lot but it was really great to be in the city environment taking some photos.

And, as you can see Caity’s style was pretty on point! I love these kind of dresses and I screamed for joy when I saw her turn the corner and approach me.

Of course it’s the city so there were some people walking by just looking at us but they lost interest pretty quick! 🙂 Tony loves city shoots – he loves the grittiness and architecture, and it was awesome to see him so inspired by this photo shoot. I thanked Caity profusely for that because I was happy to see him running all over the place trying to get shots!

What to Wear – Super Sexy Boudoir {Pittsburgh Boudoir Photographer}

I’ve done some research, visited some local lingerie shops, and talked to the ladies about what their customer’s significant others buy for them. That’s the key – knowing what what your partner likes. I wanted to go straight to the source to find out what lingerie people buy for their significant other. Wouldn’t that help us shop if we don’t want to outright ask?

Some of this might be a little risqué for you but always keep an open mind!

Underbust Corset

This is my number one pick for a super sexy session. There is something old school and vintage about these items that really take your session to that super sexy place. I love how these corset enhance your bust and show off what you got. I love celebrating who my clients are, and these corsets certainly embrace everything you have!

Open Cup Teddies

Let your breasts roam free! Haha. I don’t know what it is about these items but men go gaga over them. When visiting some lingerie shops, I asked what item is purchased most often as a gift and this was the number 1 answer. Can you believe it?!? But, the first time I photographed this type of outfit I was amazed. The images are are so beautiful…and sexy!

See-thru/Sheer tops

Very simple. Wear panties, a sheer top, no bra. BAM! Just a little hint of nipple and you’ve achieved a super sexy image! Don’t forget white tank tops too – and add some pearls. So gorgeous and sexy!

Nothing

One of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken was that of a gorgeous woman wearing nothing at all, laying in the studio, wrapped in tulle! If you are willing to go that extra mile, it will pay off. Of course, it’s very important to discuss your nudity comfort level with your photographer – make sure you are on the same page. There should never be an expectation by your photographer that you will get nude. But remember – a good photographer can give the illusion of nudity! 🙂

Brian Loves Shelby {Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer}

Shelby and Brian were married on New Years Eve. What an amazing way to ring in the new year with the people you love the most!

It was a bitter cold day but Shelby and Brian – and their wedding party – were real troupers during the picture taking outside, which honestly didn’t last too long.

10 minutes. That’s all we could stand on the windy Roberto Clemente Bridge. But, I’d say in 10 minutes we all did pretty darn good with getting some classic Pittsburgh photos! These aren’t the typical wedding photos you see on Pinterest or even on my blog – usually there is natural light and SUN for most of the bridal portraits, but when you get married at night – the beauty below ensues!

I can’t even begin to describe the joy of working with Brian & Shelby. What an amazing couple and I can’t even imagine all the awesome things that await them in the future! Congrats, Shelby & Brian. It was my honor to be your photographer!

Here’s my favorite from their wedding. I already have this blown up to a huge canvas and hung on a wall in the studio.

Let’s start at the beginning. The girls were having some great fun with selfies while getting ready for the ceremony. They were all so happy and excited, and I loved being around lovely ladies with that spirit!

As a Pittsburgh wedding photographer, I adore mother/daughter moments. I promised Lola that I would get some photos of her and Shelby, as I had shared with her that I don’t have any special photos of me and my mom from my wedding.

The new Mr. & Mrs. – I love first kiss photos. So much joy! And the church was absolutely gorgeous!

What do you do with limited time and terrible cold outside? You opt to take some photos inside, and the church had a wonderful grotto that provided a nice backdrop for us.

Time to hit the bridge!

It was so windy on the bridge that Shelby’s veil had an agenda of it’s own. It took some effort to get it to stay in place so I just embraced the wind and position of the veil!

I love this photo because the darkness of it makes for a very romantic moment.

Time to get the fun started. As a wedding photographer I love when my brides and grooms are able to participate in cocktail hour. It’s important that they enjoy all aspects of their day and I got thru some hotel photos quickly so that they could spend time with their bridal party!

Shelby loves the Vanity Fair look of large group photos and wanted to try something out with her wedding party. I was more than happy to oblige. With it being New Years Eve, there weren’t many places in the hotel that were empty enough to put a large group of people but I saw this bench and we went for it. Isn’t this the coolest group of people!?! I was so LUCKY to be the one chosen to photograph this wonderful group!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

I simply LOVE capturing the fun of receptions. And what do I love even more – seeing my bride and groom on the dance floor with their family and friends! These next two photos were the last two photos I took that night. I love that Shelby and Brian were on the dance floor surrounded by the people they love.

Tame the Breast {Pittsburgh Boudoir Photographer}

Continuing my 2015 blogging series with boudoir tips…

Embrace the bust! Let your breasts roam free! YES, I SAY! 🙂

Large breasts are a blessing and a curse. All women are different, especially when it comes to what they are looking for with their boudoir photo shoot – some want to enhance the bust, while others want to minimize it. Here are some tips for your session if you are self conscious about your chest size.

Minimizer Bras

A minimizer bra distributes the breast evenly to give the illusion of a smaller bust. Check out my list of shops online that you could search for bras (see that post here). If you can’t find one that is “pretty” enough for your shoot, consider adding a sheer lacy top to wear over the bra. And, don’t forget jewelry. Awesome jewelry is a great accessory to enhance any outfit. Two general tips when purchasing a minimizer bra. 1) Make sure you are wearing the right size bra. This makes a big difference in how the bra works to minimize your appearance. 2) Find a bra with a rounded cup so it maintains your shape. Shape and curves in boudoir photography are important – very important. This means it’s essential to find a minimizer bra that will show off those uber-sexy curves!

Wear Dark Color items

You always hear that black is slimming and it’s true. Consider some darker pieces to your wardrobe for your boudoir session – it always minimizes the appearance of everything. The biggest piece of advice I could give you here is that you choose solid dark colors, no patterns.

Incorporate Modest Pieces

The use of modest pieces to accentuate your lingerie can be used. Think of form fitting blazers, cardigans or even v-neck sweaters. These pieces can really assist in achieving maximum (or minimal .. haha) results with your shoot.

Things to avoid

Yes, there are some things to avoid if you are looking to minimize your chest. First, long necklaces – these draw the eye to the wrong spot. For your clothing, avoid overly tight clothes and low cut tops. These will only draw the eye to where you may not want it to be.

Of course, if you want to accentuate your breasts, well, your boudoir photographer should be all for it! Remember, your session is about you – celebrating who you are – bringing out your beauty. Discuss with your photographer – make sure you are on the same page on what you are looking for in your photos. Ultimately, the product is a reflection of you!
