As a boudoir photographer, I hear a lot – “Oh, I don’t have a good body” or “I don’t want to be naked” or “I don’t want to show a lot of skin”

Everyone is different.  Everyone’s comfort level is different.  I’m going to dispel a big myth with this next statement (ready….) — Boudoir photographs don’t need to be over the top and in your face sexy.

It’s the hint of seductiveness – not overt.  Implied images make the mind wander.  Look at the below photos from one of my recent boudoir sessions.  You don’t see much skin but it conveys a message.  Imagine what comes after she drinks her tea.  That’s sexy.

Of course, there were other images from this session that I’m not going to show on my website but these are proof that sexy doesn’t mean that you have to be sprawled out on a bed in next to nothing.  Sexy can be defined by many different things – a certain look, the position of the hands, a tilt of the head, a slight part of the lips..the list goes on.  One element can make a photo sexy!

I’ve had a few men contact me about purchasing a boudoir photo session for their spouse as a gift.  I ask them, “What would you find sexy about her photos?”  I was surprised by some of the answers but I heard from them that it’s the subtle boudoir photos that intrigue them because their mind gets to create what they think happens next!  Hmm, very good point!
