Takin’ the Plunge – Niki & Nick {Pittsburgh Wedding & Engagement Photographer}

The Nics!  Meet Niki and Nick….they’re getting married in October….

I was warned up front that they are not a kissy-face couple.  Wow.  OK, I need to watch all my lovey dovey poses.  I want to respect who our couples are, so after our session I asked them if I was approaching a line that they didn’t want to cross.  I was told no, which is great news for a photographer!  I was able to respect who they are as a couple,  and I certainly don’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable.

Here are some quick photos from our session.

Niki and Nick brought the two dogs along.  They wanted pictures of the Great Dane who is getting rather old…

The below is like there is no one else in the world…..

The below picture…caption…”If you want it Niki, come and get it!!!”

It took Nick a while to warm up to me.  About 20 minutes into the session it hit me…there was a Penguins game on at 7:30 and I figured he probably wanted to get home for it.  So, I slyly said something when I had them move to a new location and I got a wink.  I GOT A WINK…I knew exactly what he wanted.  So, I moved fast and we finished in time so that he could get home for the game.  Niki told me a few days later that Nick said the engagement session wasn’t “that bad”  SCORE, Mrs. Chick!!!!

Chelsea – 2013 BHS Senior {Pittsburgh Senior & Portrait Photographer}

Chelsea was such a joy to work with.  We laughed the entire session…that’s what it’s like with The Chicks!

Chelsea is a fun loving girl who loves to smile so when I asked her to be serious (aka, no smile) it was very difficult for her.  After the shoot, I emailed her and her mom a preview picture – and I picked a serious face photo (stupid photographer choice! haha) – Chelsea wanted to see smilie picture.  So, I worked to pick out my favorite smilie picture and sent it to her that night.  🙂  I really can’t say how great our session was.  Prior to the shoot Tony and I were talking about our own senior pictures and how awkward it was and we had no idea what to do in front of the camera.  Kids these days seem very comfortable having a camera in their face (with posing and everything) … and why shouldn’t they … it hit me … they live in front of the camera now – always snapping pictures from their cell phones and loading them up to Facebook and Instagram.  Something that was so foreign to us is now natural to this new generation.  That’s a treat for a photographer! 🙂

Chelsea will be attending Slippery Rock in the fall majoring in education.  She’s got a passion … and it’s only going to blossom as she gets to college.  Best of luck, Chelsea!!!!!!

The photo below is for Mom & Dad! 🙂

Josh – 2013 BHS Senior! {Pittsburgh Senior & Portrait Photographer}

Josh is one of those seniors who procrastinate … and wait … and wait … to get their senior pictures done.  I was happy to be able to get together with him.  Josh is hoping to attend Slippery Rock soon to major in nursing.  It’s so great to see a kid so willing to give and serve as a nurse.  My mother is an RN and I know how truly talented these individuals are…best of luck Josh!!!

Gettin’ Hitched – Phil & Tara {Pittsburgh Engagement & Wedding Photographer}

We had a terrific time at Tara & Phil’s engagement session.  We had two spots – Old Economy Village and Robin Hill Park.  Both locations were great.

Tara had visited Old Economy when she was a kid and had fond memories of the place, so she wanted to have her engagement pictures taken there.  Phil & Tara coordinated directly with the staff at Old Economy to arrange for our use of the grounds – it’s not free and there are rules! 🙂  And, I understand why.  The grounds are absolutely beautiful and if everyone had access to them there would be people all over the place having their pictures taken.  A staff member followed us around during our shoot – they were nice and friendly – but wanted to make sure we followed the rules.

Here are a few of our favorites from their session.  They will be getting married this September!
