I am calling this my “Journey “ post because I, like many of you, have been, and CONTINUE to be , a work in progress and on this journey to self love and discovery.

I always wanted to do a “sexy photo shoot” but I was afraid , nervous, didn’t think I was ready and embarrassed to even look into doing one. 😔
.
I would think to myself , I don’t want to look at my body in lingerie in private let alone in front of a stranger. Yeah, in the group Maura seemed to have a huge following and everyone loves her, but I didn’t know her … so I stayed on the sidelines and watched … for almost a year.
.

During that time on the sidelines , I started thinking about what to give to my future husband as a wedding gift, I watched some more pondering And trying to get the nerve to message Maura for info.
.
My love for him and wanting to do something for the night before the wedding, I took the leap and booked it. Closed my eyes and pushed the button to BOOK! Eeekkkk Holy Crap, I did it.

I remember thinking WTF did I do. Well… here we go. I remember thinking “I need to go on a strict diet and get myself to the gym ASAP! I felt I needed to be thin. Truth be told I have NEVER been thin. I have been heathy weight but never “thin” so I wondered why I felt the need to be that for this shoot.
.
The day of the shoot I almost cancelled but I took a deep breath and went. I walked in to the most comforting, anxiety relieving hug I have ever received. Maura magic starts there … her complete embrace soothed every etch of nervousness right from me and the instant I felt comfortable and welcomed. I melted in the entry way of her studio.

The shoot took what felt like 10 min but lasted for hours. I had my hair and make up completed by a professional. I had champagne and we talked … I felt so blissfully relaxed 😌. Time spent with one of God’s angels was the most rewarding part of the experience.

She helped me see the beauty in myself where I mostly focused on the things I don’t care for. I mean, we all have them right. See what we don’t like and ignore the goodness of ourselves. She poured into my heart that day and it changed my thinking , my view , and my life.

After the wedding I booked another session, well, because I had a blast and I wanted to go all in and be more creative.

This time for the second shoot I had unintentionally gained 20# and it didn’t matter. I bared it all, body and soul, enjoying the moment of self love and self care through the Maura experience.
.
Then came the most recent shoot .. Last month. It was my 3rd photoshoot with the Magical Maura.
.
This time I went to her a different human. I changed woman. I had been watching her , listening to her and her self love coaching and teachings , book recommendations for self betterment and love. It changed me. She changed me.
.

I shed over 40# not because of vanity but because I love myself enough to want to love and take care of my body. I love myself and my body. I want it to Be healthy and able to do things without illness and daily pain.
.

Maura taught me self love and I did just that. I continue to love my body and my life everyday. The best form of self love is better health and the by product of that was weight loss.
.

My husband loved me during the 1st shoot, 2nd shoot and this shoot. So it wasn’t for what I looked like or how I view myself, it was to be healthy so I can enjoy more things in my life and I am no longer holding back.

When I see these pics, all of them I see a progression of love, a progression of self acceptance , and a reflection of health and wellness inside and out.

I challenge you … look at these pics , really look at them. See my eyes , my soul and hear my heart.

I love getting to play around and be creative.  Last year, I bought something on a whim .. as are most of my purchases … but it was right around Halloween.  We had a styled session planned with some of the new jewelry I purchased and the new vintage-y set I created.  As I was looking around on Amazon (cause they have EVERYTHING, duh) I saw a fog machine.  I immediately thought of how cool it would be to fog out my dear client and friend.  Impulse buy, two days later it’s here.

The fun thing about the fog machine I purchased is that it has colored lights on it so I could play around with different colors throughout the shoot.  You can see that in some of the photos.

This little machine might just be the best purchase I made in 2019 for my studio.  It could have been the big green velvet sofa and chair, the grand mirror, the new bedding set up….nope.  A $40 fog machine!  And, I think it’s simply because I have so much fun with it.

My apologies in advance to my clients who I blow smoke at – trust me – it’s worth it!

First we started with the two gold necklaces that I purchased and a huge cream tulle skirt.  Isn’t she a beauty?!?

Next we played around with my  new set.  A stool, an old window, an awesome light, some trees and a tapestry!  It’s so perfect and I love how it came together.  I enjoy creating these vignettes at the studio.

SMOKE AND RED LIGHTS!  I called her my red light special while I had the lights on!

Then just smoke!  I think it looks cool – it just adds a vibe to the image that I love so much!

Time for some fog, rhinestone pasties and a little bit of the colored lights!

Here’s what she posted in our private Facebook group after her photo reveal:

“Once upon a time where was a girl who was very broken… and lost and sad… who felt invisible and worthless and unlovable… and I prayed for God to guide my path and help me… I spent many nights for many years crying for help (usually in my car so I could clean myself up before my kids seen me.. my neighbors always looked concerned ‍♀️ lol), very low times that I don’t talk about much… he listened… he has answered my prayers in very unique ways and at very unexpected times over the years…

I found Maura 3 years ago … from a stranger to a mentor and now my friend. I keep trying to find the words that will express what she has done to my heart over those 3 years. I don’t know if there are words. So I will explain as best I can…

When you have the hardest day and your physically and mentally exhausted and there is nothing left… that moment you come home and walk in your house and close the door and you can breathe in that deep breath of fresh air knowing you in a safe space and you can be free to be yourself… with your hair down and your sweatpants on … that’s Maura. She is a safe space… she is comfort. A big hug after a hard day. She is solid for us even when she is at her weakest… she is trust and honor and unbelievable joy. She is one of a kind. She is so very special.

I tell people that boudoir is worth every penny. It is. I have had 3 sessions with Maura… and to think I contemplated cancelling my first one because I was scared of all of the things… the vulnerability… the money… what would people think … i come back because in every session I release more of that mean girl inside myself… I learn to love myself… to not take life so seriously…to remember that being a woman is so freakin cool. I do these shoots for me. I work my ass off to save up for these days… they are my days… my “investments of the heart”… they keep me connected to me so I don’t get lost in a world that I never again want to blend in.

Maura … Thank You for helping me see who I am… thank you for believing in me so much that I now believe in me… thank you for making me get comfortable with the uncomfortable… thank you for being you… in the last most difficult year of your life you still showed up for us, for me… and I hope you know how much you are loved… and how much better this world is because you are in it.

This day goes in the memory books of my life… these photos remind me that I am a freaking goddess and that my days of being in the shadows are over. I can’t wait to see what next year brings. I am glad you are part of my life. How lucky am I?

1) Why did you decide to invest in a boudoir photo shoot?  Boudoir keeps your body image in check. Your reminded that your enough at every phase you are in.

2) How did you feel about yourself before your photo shoot?  Pretty good, because I’ve been with Maura for awhile 🙂

3) How did you feel about yourself after your photo shoot?  Amazing as always! My cheeks hurt from laughing more than my back did from arching!! Lol

5) What was your favorite part of the boudoir photo shoot?  Everything! Mauras hug takes the cake though!!

6) What value do you think a boudoir session brings to your life and the community of women you support? Hard to put in words how these shoots help you to love yourself and look at yourself beyond the flaws and scars and past… women are so hard on thenselves… boudoir reminds you that your a babe.
