I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this beauty a few times now.  She was so good at her first shoot and allowed me to share photos that I asked her to come back as a test for this amazing gown that I purchased.  She’s a true inspiration to my photography!  I can’t wait to have her back…

Molly & Cody

It makes me feel old when I see young girls that I used to mentor get married.  Molly was the first and it was surreal for me.  But, I’ve watched Molly grow into an amazing young woman and getting to witness (even behind the camera) her becoming a wife was very emotional for me.  Molly has always loved deeply, and her love for Cody was so very evident.  And, Cody’s love for Molly was even more evident.  Capturing their love and admiration for each other was very special to me.  I adore both of them and was so honored to capture their wedding day.

Favorite Moment of the Day:  Well, so much of the day was a favorite for me because I’m so personally connected to Molly.  A couple things come to mind though.  First was during the ceremony.  Molly was getting emotional and Cody just gently rubbed her hand as she was crying.  I thought it was a sweet tender moment – that photo is included below.  I also enjoyed seeing Molly and her dad interact with each other.  His jaw dropped the moment he saw her and was in a little bit of disbelief.  And, he was calming and reassuring to her when things were running late.  Finally, Molly and I shared a moment during the reception in disbelief that this was happening, and we briefly talked about all the things she’s been thru since I’ve known her – it brought me to tears.

We ended our 2016 wedding season with a bang!  Congrats to Molly & Cody!  Here are just a few photos from their wedding.

True Beauty

Who is She? She’s an amazing mother of two little ones and is a fiancé to an amazing man.  She works and takes care of everyone in her life.  This session was for her fiancé’s birthday … but she’s thinking about coming back for a bridal boudoir for her wedding next year!

What Were Her Lingerie Selections? Well, another client that brought some great stuff and she even gifted a few items to me to keep in my collection.  She had a great bra & panty set from AdoreMe, a bodysuit from Asos, an item from Victoria’s Secret, and a sweater from Aerie!  And, bonus for her – she wore one of my bodysuits because I wanted to try out some new lighting techniques with her!

Favorite Moment: She is perfection and her shoot was perfect from beginning to end.  We laughed a lot and I loved getting a new side out of her!  It was so great to see her spend a day celebrating herself.  While your session may – in the beginning- be a gift for someone else, it ends up being a gift for yourself…and I loved giving this gift to her!  Can’t wait for the next time!

I can’t believe that I had to wait TWO YEARS to get these two back in front of my camera!  We did their engagement session in October of 2014 and I was WAITINGGGGGGG for this day to arrive.  You see, Kylee and Chris are simply perfection.  They’ve been so amazing to me and I love every minute of working with them!  Chris always makes me laugh but can pull it together to get some killer photo!  And, Kylee is one of the most gorgeous women I’ve ever had in front of my camera.  They have a relationship that I look up to and strive to achieve.

Simply put, they make me love my job.  They remind me of why I started doing this in the first place.  They make photography fun for me.  Their engagement photos were some of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken so I expected their wedding photos to be nothing short of amazing.

Favorite Moment of the Day:  Gosh, this is a hard one.  When I look back at their wedding, everything was so perfect and wonderful…and fun!  But, the moment that got me the most were the toasts.  Seeing both Kylee and Chris’ reactions to what people had to say was truly touching.

Johnelle’s Story

In this blog post, I turn it over to my client who shared the below in my private boudoir group the day after her photo shoot.  Please take a moment to read this – she’s an INSPIRATION!

“a door. a fairy tale. a dream come true!

All three of these would have never existed if it wasn’t for this group and someone as amazing as you, Maura McCarl Chick

When I was younger, I took dance classes, for recitals, it was hair and makeup for everyone but only the “true star” of the recital had their name on a door. Yesterday, as I climbed the stairs to the studio, I looked up at this big beautifully decorated door and for once in almost 30 years, I seen MY NAME! Wednesday November 30, 2016, I finally made it to “star status” I had a door with my name. To me, it was a true sign of greatness to come.

Finally meeting Maura after countless rants and raves via email, it was like hugging my big sister from another mister! Talking with an old friend, like coming home to my best friends discussing new outfits and events in the past weeks. There was no nerves after that. I found another part of my tribe!

I’m a pizza shop girl, money is tight and makeup is rarely done, everything is appreciated because you can’t always have nice things when you work for circus peanuts and spare change. My serving tips went into new outfits and paying for my shoot because I wanted my true Cinderella story. I wanted my fairy tale. I over packed, I took literally everything I could find to “hide” myself in and Maura stepped right away from them, a few eye rolls and comments of disbelief because of the sizing!
(Yes you were right, I’m not those sizes anymore!)

Pre-shoot interview was raw, I don’t think I’ve ever truly admitted those things to myself let alone in front of a camera, but I felt some strange sense of relief after I answered the questions.

Like any star, the show had to go on…the hair, the makeup, the outfits and NOW THE MAGIC! The poses, the directions, the accessories, it all became instinctual for me. I found myself feeding off Maura’s energy and her non-verbal communications. I love people because I love to read their faces and their gestures, even if we weren’t “hootin’ and howlin'” over the pics, there was FIRE in Maura’s eyes which drove me to just let loose. Before I even realized it, the phrase “you’re killing it” was getting passed around and BOOOM! I earned my pose! yes! YES, stardom! For those of you who have your pose, I’m pretty sure you can understand what I’m saying/feeling here. I EARNED my pose!

I trusted Maura from before the moment I booked my shoot back in September, I sat here every day for a very long time watching this group and seeing all these lovely ladies post about their shoots. I sat here, a broken 29 year old woman who has been fighting an “invisible” disease for over a decade wishing to look, feel and be beautiful even for just one day….

Yesterday…that dream came true! But I could’ve never done it without all the love and support from Maura and all those amazing women in this group!

This isn’t the last of what I need to say about my experience, I’ve already started writing the memoir to be shared far and wide. I think I’m even going to send a copy to Maura to use however she may see fit, but a few words in a Facebook group or conversations with people near and dear to me can’t do this experience enough justice! I’m sure it’s pretty evident in my Post Shoot interview too!”
