Boudoir Tips – What to Wear On a Budget

My last boudoir blog post was a list of items if you wanted to splurge on our outfits for your boudoir photo shoot. Today’s post is for those on a budget – what to wear boudoir on a budget. These items are all under $40. Use this list for ideas on what to look for and where to shop if cost is a concern. As always, search sales!

So, let’s begin….

herroom First up is an item from HerRoom.com – I love these halter teddies, and I especially love the lace of this item. I love lace! This comes in a few different color options and is only $22! Style this up with some awesome jewelry and you are good to go!

Next up is this cute babydoll set from Bare Necessities. I love lace and I love ruffles – put those two together and they make for a great outfit for your photo shoot. Plus, they give your photographer a great chance to get amazing detail shots, which certainly add to your collection. This item is also great for bridal boudoir too, and is only $36.

Well, well! This is an outfit that I’ve photographed a few times and I LOVE IT! This is so super sexy – all the straps and the mesh see thru top! Wow! I loved it even more when I found out it was only $38.50. This item is available from Fredericks of Hollywood. There are a few different color options to this teddy.

Here’s an item for my ladies with curves! This is a beautiful item from Torrid – I love the light color and the details around the best. This is also great if you are concerned about your tummy area, as it does a great job concealing that area. This chemise is only $38.50.

Look at this awesome corset from ModCloth. I love the details on this item and the ruffles on the strap – perfection! This is reasonably priced at $39.99. The matching panties are extra but you could easily wear a pair of cute black panties you already have in your closet!

You can always incorporate things you already have that can be made super sexy with some styling and posing. Think of sweaters or tank tops in this case. They make great pieces to your shoot!

If you are on a budget, it’s very important to shop around. There are great items out there on many different sites that can fit into your budget.

Shae’s Senior Portraits

Shae is a senior at New Brighton High School and let me just start by saying how fabulous she is! Her session was so much fun from beginning to end!

When Shae’s mom contacted me about her session, we discussed location and what they were looking for with her senior photos. Mom seemed to want more of a nature feel and Shae seemed to be more into the urban feel. Well, problem solved. One of my favorite locations has a great mixture of both urban and nature and I love being able to use this spot in my senior photo shoots.

Thank you so much Shae and Lisa for a wonderful time with you both! I love that I can smile and laugh during my shoots. I have so much fun and love this job so incredibly much! How lucky am I?!?! 🙂

Love this location!

Our next stop was an urban area with some cool brick work. I asked Shae if I could remove the graffiti on the doors and walls of this location – she said NO! So…I obliged – graffiti and all! After all, these are her photos not mine, so if she wants that in, then it stays. But, don’t worry mom – I’ll get some great urban photos without graffiti (see below).

She’s a model and doesn’t even know it. And, she’s super SUPER smart! Gosh, these kids could run circles around me with their knowledge!

Love to get natural reactions from my seniors! Maybe I say crazy things to do so but it reminds me of how much fun we have on their shoots!

What It’s All About

Pittsburgh Boudoir Photographer, Pics By Chicks Photography, is committed to providing women with the best and most unique experience during their boudoir photo shoot. Today on the blog, I share with you something I’ve forgotten about why boudoir photo shoots are so amazing.

I talk often in my blog about why it is so awesome to do a boudoir shoot, but in all my posts about talking about how uplifting the experience is for women and celebrating who they are, I’ve missed something. I’ve missed something BIG.

In June, I had a boudoir shoot with a prior client as an anniversary gift to her husband. Knowing both of them very well after the time I’ve spent with them before, it was so great to see her stretch her comfort level to do something that she knew he would love. Her session was amazing! It truly was a very special time for the both of us – as it is during most of my boudoirs.

Fast forward three months and I received the below letters – one from her and one from her husband.

I was so unbelievably shocked when I read her letter. I’m not using this blog post to boast about how great she felt the experience was but I’m using this to show women that these sessions are so much more than beautiful and sexy images. In case you can’t see the photo very well, this is the part that resonated with me:

“I of course felt gorgeous and at ease while out of my comfort zone, I found myself realizing how much I truly love my husband and just how very lucky I am to have him in my life. How enlightened he has made me in particular areas, how empowered he makes me feel, how gorgeous I will always be to him in every way while just being myself. “

She went on to say:

“What I took from our session was an even heightened sense of appreciation and gratitude towards my husband even when I thought it was at its highest. I am so grateful that you opened my mind to this wonderful experience.”

What powerful words! This also reminded me from a client last September who told me that she felt her boudoir session brought her and her boyfriend closer together. That her doing something so amazing and special for him was something that drew him closer to her!

WOW!!!! Even this impact has left me a little speechless. These sessions are so great for women, but think about how much closer this gift would bring to you to your significant other.

Realizing the depth of your love is an amazingly wonderful thing and I’m so honored to be a part of this experience with so many amazing women.

Grayson

Pittsburgh Children’s Photographer, Pics By Chicks Photography, had the honor of capturing Grayson’s 2 year photos! So many smiles and laughs accompanied this session. Grayson has been such a joy to watch grow over the last two years. I photographed him as a newborn, then 6 months, 1 year and now two years. This boy just gets happier and happier – let alone bigger and bigger! I always enjoy having him in front of my camera because he gives me such a mix of expressions. I typically call his photo shoots “The Many Faces of Grayson” – I always get a smile on my face when his mom contacts me for photos because I know I’m in for tons of fun.

First up in his 2 year photo shoot was some quick family photos! Adam and Jess have such a beautiful family.

He’s a daddy’s boy and I love the way Adam interacts with Grayson.

Oh those eyes. They’ve been melting my heart for two years now.

And here we go – his faces!!! 🙂

Oh, I’m just going to get up and march over here!

It was really hot the day of his session and we were all sweating, including Grayson. But, the heat would not deter him especially when he got some close look at the trains that were going by our shooting location. He loves trains so this was the perfect spot for his photo shoot!Love this expression while watching the trains go by.

Such a happy boy!

This beautiful woman was awesome enough to let me share some of her boudoir photos as long as I didn’t show her face or reveal her identity. OK, great – I’ll take it! This makes for a great blog post about your privacy.

I love to maintain my client’s privacy. Clients always provide approval before any photos appear on my website. I have photographed a lot of teachers, politicians, government officials (women who I can’t even know what they do) and doctors who need their privacy maintained, and I’m all for that. These photos are for you, not me. Ultimately, I want you to love your experience with me and the photos we’ve produced. I could care less about being able to share your photos on my blog. Yes, it’s a great and awesome bonus to doing a boudoir photo shoot but it’s not something I go into looking to do with your images.

I completely respect your request for privacy. I’m thankful that you’ve chosen me as your boudoir photographer. I will never pressure you to allow me to share your photos on my blog. You can certainly tell me I can share them (and I may give you a big hug for that) but I would never make you feel like you needed to be online! 🙂

Here are some boudoir detail photos. They are an amazing part of the full boudoir collection and so very important to have in your gallery. Of course, she’s got a gorgeous face but you’ll never know what she looks like. 🙂
