Wedding Preview – Jamie & Jason

Pics By Chicks Photography, Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer, spent the July 4th holiday photographing Jamie and Jason’s wedding!  What a beautiful family event that we were honored to be a part of.

I’ve known Jamie’s family for years as a member of our church.  Her family’s property was a beautiful setting for their wedding – barn, pond, horses, swings. Ah, it has the perfect touches for a family gathering.  Here are some preview photos for now.  Can’t wait to work on all their images.

First up were photos at the barn.  Jamie’s dress was perfection!  Apparently, she’s had it for a few years while they figured out when and where they were getting married.  It was a long wait for this dress to make it’s photographic debut

These are Jamie’s great grandmother’s pearls.  They were in this beautiful purple case.  The piece here draped down her back (you can see that in the photo above).

Dress #2 – Yes, she had two dresses and both were gorgeous.  We tackled some photos with the horses and then went down by the pond with that sunlight just kicking into the trees.  Gosh, I love summer weddings.  And, hey – check out her awesome cowboy boots.

Choosing A Boudoir Photographer – Does Price Matter

A very simple question – does price matter?  Simple answer – YES!

As you do your research on boudoir photographers, the question of price always comes up.  I completely respect and understand budgetary concerns, but you really have to take into account the full scope of the offering.

In most cases, those photographers who have invested in their education, lighting, studio equipment, etc are higher priced and there is a reason for that.  As we photographers get more experience, our price increases.  Not because we want to charge more, but we know the cost of running our business and the investment we’re making to give you the best experience possible.

Anyone could pick up a camera and start to take photos in this digital world of iPhones, point and shoot and some entry level DSLRs  But, you want a photographer who has spent time investing in developing their boudoir experience.

When we invest in ourselves, we invest in you!

 

I can say that I have personally invested in my boudoir education by doing the following:

~Taking boudoir specific workshops that included one-on-one shooting time with a model

~Studying posing of all different body types

~Taking workshops about lighting subjects

~Conducting my own personal model calls to test new posing and studio setups

~Taking workshops and doing independent studies on editing of photos

~Participating in extensive boudoir marketing and business camps

~Setting up a studio that produces optimal results in lighting and allows for ease of posing

~Understanding client needs and developing the boudoir experience I offer

~Obtaining special props to be used to sessions and know what will look great in the photos

~Cameras & Lenses.  Yes, those cameras and lenses cost lots of money 🙂  Most photographers invest in top of the line equipment – I know I do!

Those are just some of the things I’ve done, and I feel it’s necessary to continue to develop my skills so that I’m at the top of my game.  You are always learning in photography!

Finally, when it comes to price, think about it in Corporate America sense – as you get more experience and more knowledge of your job, you request increases in your pay.  It’s the same thing with a photographer.  As we gain more knowledge of our craft, increase our equipment, take workshops, etc. it only serves us that the price increase.

Find a photographer who has made an investment – that means they are able to give you a wonderful experience!

Jonathan & Randi’s Wedding

This couple means a lot to this Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer.  There are no two better people more matched for each other than Randi and Jonathan, and it has been a privilege of mine to be a part of their lives.

Their perfect wedding was a reflection of their love for each other – everything was so fabulous!  Since the moment we met Randi and Jonathan we have felt like their friends.  Have you ever met people who you instantly have a connection with?  Well, that was these two for me … and even Tony.  After their engagement session, Tony told me how much he enjoyed them and the photo shoot – he’s not one to gush about stuff like that.  And, we both agreed we were excited to be their wedding photographers.

I have a warm heart thinking about how much fun we had at this wedding – we enjoyed every fun-filled moment.  Here are just some of their wedding photos.

Randi’s lace dress was the dress I’m dreamed of for my own wedding.  It was absolutely beautiful!

I love capturing emotions on wedding day.  When I asked Randi’s mom to go over to her for photos, all I said was “look at her, Mom.”  And she started crying.  It was a very touching moment and it took her a while to recover so dad stepped in for some photos.109

The GORGEOUS bride!  Randi is an absolutely amazing woman and I am so honored to be her photographer!

Time for Randi and Jonathan’s portrait session.  I loved that they gave me an hour for just their photos!  I wish all couples did that – they ended up with tons of photos because I had time to be creative after my formal portraits.

Pop of Pink Boudoir

I love my job as a Pittsburgh Boudoir Photographer – I love it even more when a friend comes in for their boudoir session.   I’ve known this beautiful woman since middle school when we played softball together.  She always made me laugh, and our boudoir photo shoot had no shortage of laughs.

Her husband and I encouraged her to do a boudoir session.  You see – sometimes women have a hard time seeing the beauty in themselves that I see.  I knew she would rock her shoot but she took some convincing.  She had the most alluring and sexy look in her eyes – it was like she was a professional model.  As a boudoir photographer, I see what others do not.  I have a gift in pulling out that sexy side of you that may have gotten lost throughout the years.  Job, husband, kids…the list goes on.  Everyone comes before you.  But, you must give yourself some love and attention.  Your life will only be made better when you make yourself feel good about YOU!

What a fun FUN session and so many great and amazing photos to choose from for sharing on the blog.  These are just a few photos from a pink outfit that I had in my boudoir outfit collection.  The options for styling continues to grow and I love being able to have a big collection of items on hand for women to use during the shoot.  Sometimes you may purchase something and it doesn’t really work in the photos – no problem.  I have tons of options to offer clients – maybe I spend too much money on these outfits but that’s for another blog post.  haha.  🙂

Edgy Boudoir

This was a different styled shoot for this Pittsburgh boudoir photographer and it’s not something I typically do.  I was trying to expand my boudoir offerings and style of shooting and wanted to do something completely different.  And, you can see how different this is when you compare it to my other boudoir photo shoots.

The truth is I’m always on the lookout for cool locations.  I have an odd love for abandoned buildings.  I see cool and unique things in buildings that people often look passed.  When I found this location, I knew it would be super cool and very unique for an edgy & industrial themed boudoir photo shoot.  And, I knew the perfect woman to help me test out this new location.

I was able to use light in a different way than I do in the studio.  While it’s different, it is an option for those who want a unique kind of boudoir.  This location is something I’m so happy to have found and has so many cool features inside.  I’m excited to go back and shoot some more in this location – whether that’s boudoir or another type of session.
