Wedding Preview – Emilee & Luke

Welcome to Emilee and Luke’s wedding preview blog post!

Two words – THE HEAT! Saturday was hot and humid. When it’s that hot with a large bridal party (there were 22 of them!), you can’t keep people out in the elements too long. The ladies were sweating thru their dresses and Luke’s knees were even sweating. It was THAT hot!

We had a great time with these high school sweethearts who are now husband and wife! Their ceremony was a St. Cecilia’s Church in Rochester, PA, and their reception at The Chadwick in Wexford. Everything was so beautiful for their special day.

When it’s unbelievable hot out, you spend an few extra minutes in the church to get some photos in the cool air! The one thing I loved about Luke and Emilee is that you could SEE their love for each other when you looked at them. It made me smile all day!

And now, outside. We didn’t last too long. 90 degrees, a big dress, and multiple layers of a tuxedo. Yup, you wouldn’t last too long either…but we got it done!

Boudoir Tips – Where to Shop For Curvy Girls

Well, today’s blog post is specifically for those ladies who have some beautifully sexy curves! Where to shop for plus size boudoir. Here are some places for you to shop for your boudoir session that’s guaranteed to have your size. I have purposely picked places that are either specifically for curvy women or sites that have extensive size options!

Make sure you find items that are right for your body. A lot of the shopping is sometimes trial and error! And be sure to check out some of my other blog posts on what might work for your body type.

Hips & Curves

Oh, hips and curves how I love thee! What am amazing site with lots of options and ideas for those lovely curvy ladies. You have to check out this site – some of the items can be expensive but their sales are very reasonably priced!

Yandy

I’ve mentioned this site before in my blog posts. I really love the extensive offering that Yandy has, and their size range is spectacular! Here is a piece that I love from Yandy that’s perfect for a boudoir session. Just remember, please ignore the over-the-top nature of the photographs of the outfits!

Torrid

This is my new favorite site for curvy chicks! I love that this site is specifically geared towards sizes 12 – 28. I was not expecting a large selection of lingerie items but I was presently surprised! And, the items have some simple but great designs. This chemise pictured here is a perfect item to wear in a boudoir photo shoot! Also, use this site to incorporate some modest pieces into your session!

Curvy Girl Lingerie

This site has everything for curvy women. It’s one stop shopping! And their sizes go up to 6x – how perfect! They have some really great garter belts, and I particularly enjoyed the highwaisted garter belt pictured here – how beautiful. And, it would pull in your tummy as well. Check out a few of the waist cinchers as well!

Adore Me

Another site with a wonderful collection of items! They have a great selection of bra and panty sets in larger sizes and lots of color options. Also, a lot of their corsets go up to size 6x! Here is a corset I love – and I especially love the matching skirt! So many cute details!

Bare Necessities

This site has lots of great bras. As you know, bras are essential to a boudoir shoot. They have lots of bras that come in extended sizes – make sure to find a bra that fits your body – there are so many options when it comes to bras (plunge, demi, push-up, etc).

Lane Bryant

This is a favorite for a lot of curvy girls, and as a formerly size 26 woman I can say that I love Lane Bryant’s selection. I used to shop there frequent. And like the other sites in this post they really have a great selection. This is a bra, panty and garter belt that I really love. Some of their pieces have great little details!

Avenue

The last place on my list is Avenue. The one thing I love Avenue for is shape wear! I love to incorporate shape wear into the boudoir sessions for curvy ladies. They really huge the curves while pulling things in and it looks amazing in photos. Check out their selection.

Wedding Preview – Jodi & Jon

Welcome to Jodi and Jon’s wedding preview blog post! What a fun and beautiful day on Saturday for their fabulous wedding! We started at Jodi’s father’s house, headed to the church (St. Monica in Beaver Falls), then off to The Fez for their reception. Super excited to get into all their photos but just a few for now. Stay tuned for their full blog post in a few weeks.

Jodi was a stunning bride! We’re both glad it didn’t rain on their wedding day but because of all the rain in recent weeks, the ground was so wet and soggy…but we made it work!

Look how beautiful…and happy!

Ring, veil, flowers – so perfect! Jodi’s veil was one of the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen! I wanted to take it home with me!

Seriously, they smiled the entire time during their portraits. Well, until Jon was just “photoed out.” 🙂 I have so much fun with our couples and there was no shortage of laughs throughout the day – they were so excited to just get married and I love to see that excitement!

Jodi and Jon – I can’t thank you enough for letting us share in this day with you both! What a pleasure of ours to spend this time with your friends and family!

For the love of women

It often seems that my boudoir photography is a topic of conversation at family gatherings. I’ve been asked some ridiculous things in regards to my love for boudoir – you name it, I’ve heard it. The one question I’m always asked is why I love it so much. Let me take this blog post to explain that a little.

A boudoir photo shoot is not just about producing beautiful, classy and even sexy photos. It’s about providing women with an amazing experience that allows them to see themselves the way I see them – absolutely perfect in every single way. We wash away any preconceived notions about what beauty is and learn how to love everything we have. Women are beautiful. I love sharing this experience with women and allowing them to open themselves up to a new experience. One of my favorite quotes is from Eleanor Roosevelt, “We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face… we must do that which we think we cannot.”

That perfectly describes what happens during the shoot. I had one client recently who told me that she never knew “this sexiness existed inside me.” How awesome is that – we were able to bring that side out in a woman who wears a hard hat to work every day!

Women are beautiful. As a boudoir photographer, I love bringing out that beauty. I have found in my years of doing this job that women often put themselves last – everything and everyone comes before them. So, I make sure I treat them with special care the day of the shoot – the boudoir photo shoot is about them! Celebrating who they are. Feeling beautiful, sexy, confident, empowerd and amazing. Yes, the photos may be a gift for someone else, but the experience is my gift to them!

When I say I do boudoir photography for the love of women, it’s completely true, but not sexual in any way. Yes, believe it or not, I’ve been asked that before. Taking time for yourself is something extremely important to carry on thru life – a lesson I learned the hard way. Women should be celebrated. Women should feel confident. Women should take time for themselves.

Do it. To take a slogan from Nike…Just Do It! You will never regret treating yourself to a boudoir photo shoot.

Why do I do it….

FOR THE LOVE OF WOMEN!

Madi’s Senior Portraits

Madi’s senior session was absolutely awesome! This girl is involved in so many activities and is super smart. So smart in fact that colleges are recruiting her! I’m going to be able to say one day, “Oh, I photographed her before!” She’s going to be famous! 🙂

We had 3 stops for her senior photo shoot. Yes, that’s a lot and not something I typically do but I wanted to do a senior session at this new secluded location that I found. The new location was our second stop along the Senior Photo Shoot Express.

Here are some photos from the new location. Wow – do I love wildflowers!

I know it can be strange but I love abandoned buildings. I see beauty in things that have been abandoned and neglected. I love using these kind of spots for photo shoots.

Stop number 3 was in Beaver but this was outfit #5! Yes, 5 outfits. Again, not normal. This is my tulle skirt that I have for photo shoots. I’ve used the black version of this skirt before but I wanted to try the cream version and it was amazing!

Loved fluffing the skirt out and creating all that texture.
