I read a lot of personal development and business books.  I set goals each year with the amount of books I will read (for 2016 it’s 25).  One of the books last year was “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek.  In that book, he detailed that people are more connected with why you do what you do, not what you do!  That’s powerful.  The book really makes you dig deep into WHY you do something.  WHY do I do this job?

If you read in my blog, you can see how passionate I am about boudoir photography – it’s the highlight of my life – and I love giving this experience to women.  But, to get to the heart of it, I have to go through my WHY…and I thought I’d share this with you.  Essentially, after every thought ask yourself WHY until you get to the root of it all.  Here was my WHY discussion (this is the MUCH shorter version – I’ll spare you):

I love boudoir.

WHY

I love working with women.

WHY

Every woman deserves to feel beautiful.

WHY

Women should be uplifted and feel good about who they are.

WHY

Because I never felt good about myself and I want women to feel what I never felt.

Mic dropped.  Yup, that’s the root of it.  Growing up, even into young adulthood, I never felt good about myself.  That’s not from a lack of family and friends telling me how wonderful I am but because I was never able to see myself for who I really was, and accept that amazing woman.  I was always trying to figure myself out and change who I was (and how I looked) to conform to what I thought other people wanted.

 And, it’s really important to me that the women that step in front of my camera feel amazing about themselves.  I want them to have all those warm feelings about who they are – all those feelings I never had!

Watching the session unfold as I stand behind the camera is so extremely powerful for me.  I love working with all these amazing women.  I want to bring out that love for themselves!  While some clients come to me already loving who they are, those women are ones that continue to inspire me! There is so much positivity and empowerment that comes out of these sessions – for both me and my clients!

I LOVE MY JOB!!

When I was thinking about where I was going to locate my studio, I knew I wanted a place in a nice area that was easily accessible from Pittsburgh, New Castle, Hermitage and Youngstown OH (Oh, and even people from Irwin and Erie)!  And, I have that!  This year already (It’s just February 11th) I’ve had 5 clients from Eastern OH and I love that I’m reaching women all over the area!  It shows me that my hard work in marketing my business is really working!

I’m centrally located and easy to get to from so many different areas.  Don’t let the Pittsburgh location on my website hold you back from contacting me to schedule a boudoir photo shoot!   I love this job!  And, if you read any of my posts on my blog, I truly hope my passion for this job comes through.  I jump for joy every single time someone contacts me about a boudoir photo shoot.

Each session is completely unique and different to me and I’m fairly certain every client gets to witness my passion, excitement and enthusiasm for this job!  I can’t wait to work with even more from the Ohio area.  It’s nice to get to talk to people about the Boardman area – a wonderful place to shop and dine.  My favorite bakery – Clarencedale Cake – is even there – that’s where we got our wedding cake!

We all have something.  Something we love, something we don’t.  It doesn’t matter your size – everyone has something.  Coming from someone who lost a ton of weight years ago, I can tell you that I still have stuff I don’t like about myself.  We always want what we don’t have.  I’d trade in my big boobs in a heartbeat and I’m sure small chested women would say the the opposite!

But, I’m making a shift in 2016!  And, it’s a shift that needs to happen for every woman so I’m sharing that with you today.

Let’s make 2016 the year we focus on the things we LOVE about ourselves.

Focus on the things you love about yourself this year, let all the negative talk about your body go.  You are shaming yourself into feeling worse about who you are.  This makes you feel like you aren’t worthy of all you have.  Change your outlook, change your life – very simple and something we can all do for ourselves.

For me, for 2016 – I’m choosing to focus on my eyes and smile.  Two things I love about myself.

Here’s the thing about my job – I can’t be a hypocrite.  I’m working with women telling them how beautiful they are – I don’t see their flaws – I see them as perfect in every way!  That means I have to embrace all I have and accept myself, flaws and all.  And, I’ve worked hard to figure out how to do that!

Do it!  Let the negativity go.  BE YOUR BEAUTIFUL SELF!  Feel good.  Pick the things you love about yourself and focus completely on them.  It will seriously change your outlook.  GO!

Celebrate yourself this year!
