First off, yes, I’m catching up on my blogging from last year! There were TONS of sessions I didn’t get to blog so I’m taking a chance over the next few weeks to get those shoots on the blog to share!

I have photographed these two fabulous children before and loved every minute of it! Their mother, who is my best friend, printed some photos from their first shoot and they are still up in the house. When I arrived to take these photos, I saw those old photos on the walls – my first thought was, “WOW. I’ve only gotten better since that shoot.” hahaha. I could tell they were “old school Maura” and I was happy to give my BFF some new photos for her walls.

Their mom has been by my side since my first week in college. She’s been with me thru all life’s struggles and she stood by me as my matron of honor at my wedding. She’s the most amazing woman I know and I have loved watching her family grow. The best part about my visits with her – sitting on her deck, looking at the hills, drinking wine and talking. I could talk to her for hours… <3

It was a beautiful fall day for their shoot and I was so happy with how it turned out. Enjoy a few photos from their shoot!

I can’t show you this gorgeous woman’s face but I can show you some awesome boudoir detail photos that conceal her identity. She came in for a boudoir photo shoot as a wedding gift to her fiancé and it was an awesome shoot! I love celebrating upcoming weddings by creating some stunning images of the future bride. Seeing their excitement for the big day and their love for their future spouse is something truly amazing.

I adore the time I get to spend with all these fabulous women in the Pittsburgh area. Whether they are doing the session as a gift for someone or just for themselves, my life is so enriched by the women in front of my camera. One of the best things about this job for me is that thru the experience of being a boudoir photographer, I’ve learned how to be comfortable with myself and love what I have. Could I stand to lose a few pounds? Yes. But, I love where I am and who I am at this exact moment – that’s not being cocky – that’s me appreciating all I have, celebrating who I am at this moment, and recognizing that that person is amazing! <3 This is exactly what I try to accomplish with my clients!

I love this job so incredibly much.

Join My Facebook Group

Boudoir Photography Pittsburgh is THE BEST THING EVER! I love my job and I love sharing this experience with women. Late last year, I created a private boudoir VIP group on Facebook.

It’s open to women only and it’s a way to share all the behind the scenes boudoir stuff with prior clients, potential clients, friends of clients and just anyone who wants to be a part of the boudoir experience. More below.

The group has been a fun place with lots of positivity, and I love it! I love being able to share information with people and even get advice from those in the group. I am enjoying letting people get an inside look into my boudoir business and it makes this job so much more personal. I share behind the scenes looks, before & afters, motivational posts, wardrobe ideas, makeup tips, etc. Past clients are also sharing their thoughts on their session and even some photos! It’s lots of fun!

I had some great fun when I asked for styling help for the outdoor winter themed boudoir session I’m doing next month. It was awesome to hear different opinions and ideas.

Boudoir is an empowering, uplifting and all around amazing experience. It’s a dream job for me and I am so thrilled to be able to share my passion with others!

I’m super excited for the things I have planned for my private group this year, and I have a contest running that no one knows about so it will be fun to share that info that later this year!

My goal for 2016 is to reach as many women as possible and give them the boudoir experience. Yes, I have a specific number of clients I want for 2016 and I’m already 1/3 of the way there .. and it’s only January! I’m already taking bookings into June and I’m so excited to work with some amazing women this year. I want to KILL IT in 2016!

I want to reach the goals I’ve set for myself and be unapologetic while doing it! I’m going to forge ahead and reach women. I cherish the time I get to spend with my clients and no two sessions are the same! I want to empower women and help them reconnect them with what makes them so fabulous!

In my private boudoir Facebook group, I shared a Motivation Monday post that said,

“Be somebody who makes everybody feel like a somebody.”

I want to be that person. I want people to feel good about themselves when they are with me – that they are someone who matters! My time with clients is so much more than just a photo shoot and I love getting to share my life with them, and they share their life with me. This job brings me so much joy and I’m so honored to be able to share that joy with my clients!

She’s Not An Artist

I’ve never felt like an artist. When I think of an artist, I think of painters and sculptors. Photographers are never someone you immediately think of when someone asks you your favorite artist. Think – right now – name your favorite artist. You’ll probably think of a few people and I bet that none of them are photographers.

I never thought of photography as an art until I had a conversation recently with my mother. I thought in my mind that there is no art in what I do – I execute photos. But, what I realized when talking with my mom is that it does take an artistic eye to see something, capture it with my camera and editing the image to produce an amazing result. And, let’s not forget posing. Especially when it comes to my boudoir photography, posing is an art – to know what looks good on each and every body type – that truly is an art and vision.

Another layer of artistic vision comes to life when I do styled photo shoots. You see – this is a whole different level of photography vision. Seeing something in my head, getting the props, setting it up and executing the photographs.

Plain and simple…

I’m an artist

The lies we tell ourselves are sometimes louder than the truth. We have to find a way to make the truth louder. That’s one of my goals for 2016 – I want the truth about my art and talent to be foremost in my mind. We have to train our minds to think the way we want it to – that’s one thing I’ve learned from all the personal and business development books I’ve read.

It’s time to set our minds right and see in ourselves what other see.
