My goal for 2016 is to reach as many women as possible and give them the boudoir experience.  Yes, I have a specific number of clients I want for 2016 and I’m already 1/3 of the way there .. and it’s only January!  I’m already taking bookings into June and I’m so excited to work with some amazing women this year.  I want to KILL IT in 2016!

I want to reach the goals I’ve set for myself and be unapologetic while doing it!  I’m going to forge ahead and reach women.  I cherish the time I get to spend with my clients and no two sessions are the same!  I want to empower women and help them reconnect them with what makes them so fabulous!

In my private boudoir Facebook group, I shared a Motivation Monday post that said,

“Be somebody who makes everybody feel like a somebody.”

I want to be that person.  I want people to feel good about themselves when they are with me – that they are someone who matters!  My time with clients is so much more than just a photo shoot and I love getting to share my life with them, and they share their life with me.  This job brings me so much joy and I’m so honored to be able to share that joy with my clients!

Here are a few photos from a boudoir session from last year.  Pretty in purple — my favorite color!

She’s Not An Artist

I’ve never felt like an artist.  When I think of an artist, I think of painters and sculptors.  Photographers are never someone you immediately think of when someone asks you your favorite artist.  Think – right now – name your favorite artist.  You’ll probably think of a few people and I bet that none of them are photographers.

I never thought of photography as an art until I had a conversation recently with my mother.  I thought in my mind that there is no art in what I do – I execute photos.  But, what I realized when talking with my mom is that it does take an artistic eye to see something, capture it with my camera and editing the image to produce an amazing result.  And, let’s not forget posing.  Especially when it comes to my boudoir photography, posing is an art – to know what looks good on each and every body type – that truly is an art and vision.

Another layer of artistic vision comes to life when I do styled photo shoots.  You see – this is a whole different level of photography vision.  Seeing something in my head, getting the props, setting it up and executing the photographs.

Plain and simple…

I’m an artist

The lies we tell ourselves are sometimes louder than the truth.  We have to find a way to make the truth louder.  That’s one of my goals for 2016 – I want the truth about my art and talent to be foremost in my mind.  We have to train our minds to think the way we want it to – that’s one thing I’ve learned from all the personal and business development books I’ve read.

It’s time to set our minds right and see in ourselves what other see.

Here are some photos of a styled shoot I did with Millie and Nora.  It was a fun little shoot with two amazing girls, whose mother is pretty awesome!

If you’d like details on a styled session, please contact me to discuss.

One thing I’ve learned – that took me longer to learn than I’d like to admit – you need to change your way of thinking.  For example, if we want to lose weight, you have to say “I’m going to eat broccoli.”  You shouldn’t say, “I’m not going to eat ice cream.”  All your brain heard in the last sentence was “ice cream” and now all you think about is ice cream.

Focus on the positive.  Train your brain to see what you want.  Visualize your desired life.  GO GET IT!

You may say, “Well, what does she know – she’s just a photographer.”  Hey, the truth is…I left a big corporate job to make my hobby a successful career.  I never had any intentions of being a photographer when I left college years ago and started my career.  Fast forward 12 years, and that camera that I loved so much became a way to make me happy each and every day.  And, BAM!  My passion was ignited.  I haven’t looked back!

Yes, some days are harder than others but I’m living a life I didn’t think was possible.  I used to think that I could never leave the stability of Corporate America, but I knew I wanted to be a photographer.  Having two full time jobs was just turning into too much so I turned my back on the job that paid me oh so very well!  It was the best decision of my life.

One of the many things I’ve learned – you have to take time for yourself.  It’s a MUST.

When’s the last time you did something for yourself?

This year I encourage you to change your way of thinking – focus on the positive things & all the great things about yourself.  And, I encourage you to do something for yourself.  CELEBRATE YOU this year!

Here’s a before & after of a wonderful transformation.  I hear a lot from women that they just don’t think they can be the women in my photos.  And, I’m here to tell you that YES YOU CAN!  Boudoir is something every woman should experience.  You too can be just like this woman!

Maternity Boudoir What to Wear - Tips on selecting outfits for your Maternity Boudoir Photo Shoot - Pics By Chicks Photography - Pittsburgh Boudoir Photographer

Maternity boudoir is super awesome! haha.  I have so much fun with the soon to be mothers that step in front of my camera.   Timing is everything with a maternity boudoir – you want to make sure you schedule your shoot at about the 7 month mark.  It’s right before you feel totally uncomfortable, yet the belly has “popped” enough for it to make an appearance in the photos.

It’s aways a tricky thing in deciding what to wear when your body is so different from normal.  Here are a few ideas I have for you:

First up, a lace top.  The top should be tight and really conform to your body – this helps in showing off your curves and belly!

Second, well, how about just some sheer fabric or even a piece of lace!  This perfectly highlights the belly and can be pulled tightly to accentuate what you have!

Third, a sweater or robe.  Oh, how I love these pieces in boudoir photo shoots.  Sometime so simple turns into something super amazing and sexy during the photo shoot!

My favorite shot for maternity boudoir >> think, Demi Moore cover of Vanity Fair circa 1991.  Google it if you don’t remember it.  I love creating this exact kind of moment during maternity boudoir shoots.  While Demi was naked in her photo, the image is equally great with an amazing pair of panties!

Don’t forget – you can wear things that you would for a regular boudoir shoot!  Bra and panty set with a beautiful baby belly is simply perfection!
