Adrienne & Mark are the perfect couple! They are a true match for each other and every since our first meeting together I had a connection with them. I left our first meeting hoping and praying they would book with me and I immediately though I’d be devastated if they went with someone else. As soon as I arrived home, I got an email saying they wanted me. I wrote back saying, “Thank goodness because you’d be stuck with me even if you didn’t!” The fun has ensued ever since and at every meeting or email we just laughed together! They make me smile .. but more importantly, they make each other smile.

I love to see love between my couples and Adrienne and Mark have something special!

Today’s Matrimony Monday post is about shoes! We have to talk shoes, ladies! Over the past several months of our weddings I’ve noticed something that I’d really like to address.

I love shoes. I used to have a shoe obsession that took quite some time to break.

I love wedding shoes. The more glitz, the better! I love all those sparkles and colors – my camera loves them too. I love walking into the bride’s room to see those gorgeous shoes waiting for me!

Here’s the problem. I have had some brides who ended their portraits early because 1) their feet hurt; 2) they didn’t want to walk into the grass and sink into the ground. Yes, portraits were ended because of shoe issues. Fine by me – I work for my couples – and if they want to stop, then we stop.

Here’s the truth. Most wedding shoes are completely uncomfortable. I couldn’t imagine wearing my wedding shoes for 8-10 hours! And, while we love the glitz, we need to be practical about our footwear on wedding day. Reason being during your bridal portraits you’re going to be walking around a little and you want to be comfortable so that we can get the shots we need. Want to get in the grass or head into a field? It helps to have comfortable shoes

Here’s my advice. Wear those gorgeous shoes for your ceremony and maybe even your reception, but slip on some comfortable shoes for your bridal portraits. It will make everything so much easier for you. I’ve had some brides that slip on Toms for

I love my job! I wake up each day excited to start the day and the beauty that ensues in my shooting and editing! I love being a boudoir photographer – it’s the greatest joy of my life. And, it’s OK for me to say that because I don’t have kids! haha. I love how connected I get with my clients and that really helps them to be able to relax as soon as the shoot starts. Most people are nervous as the step in the studio but I always hear that those nerves don’t last too long. I pride myself on getting you to open up, as it only makes the experience better for all of us! I’ve had my own boudoir photo shoot done so I know what it’s like for you, so my goal is to get you to relax and let me help you celebrate who you are with some amazing images!

Boudoir Mini Sessions – Limited Availability

NOW IS THE TIME!

Have you ever wanted to do a boudoir session but didn’t want to take the leap into a full boudoir photo shoot?? Well, it’s here – for the first time ever – I’m offering boudoir mini sessions!!

One day ONLY – November 8, 2015!

Sessions will take place at the Pics By Chicks Photography studio near Beaver, PA.

The Boudoir Mini Session Includes:

~Professional Makeup Application (No hairstyling)

~One outfit in the breathtaking white scene

(think chandelier, white tufted headboard, white sheets, tulle, and a whole lot of gorgeousness)

~ 30 Minute Photo Shoot

~ Digital Download of 10-15 images with a print release letter

~10% off additional products – prints, canvas and little black books

To reserve your spot: A signed terms of services agreement and payment of your session is required. Your time spot is NOT confirmed until both these actions are completed. For your convenience, we accept cash, check and credit cards.

Spaces are already very limited. Don’t delay in getting one of the available time slots. (OCTOBER 22 UPDATE: TWO SPOTS LEFT)

Additional information is below.

As noted above, only makeup application is provided. You MUST arrive to your mini session with your hair styled and ready to go. If you have to take a few minutes to style your hair, that WILL cut into your 30 minute photo shoot.

We will have a great time during your session. Makeup will start as soon as you arrive, then the 30 minute photo shoot will begin.

You will be allowed one outfit during the session – I can help you decide what will work best. Choose a slip, bra & panty set, a sweater or even just use my white sheets! The possibilities for your outfit are endless!

Boudoir Tips – One thing to practice before your boudoir shoot

A very important topic here – what to practice before boudoir photo shoot!

I hear from so many women that they are going to practice their “sexy” face prior to the shoot. No, no – just no. I know that some boudoir photographers would have you get in front of the mirror and practice being sexy but I’ve never found that to actually work.

Case in point. I had a beautiful client who was practicing her sexy face and what she saw in the mirror was not sexy so she was constantly stressing out about it. So, when she arrived at her session, she was extra nervous about her facial expressions. The thing is – she didn’t need to do anything extra to look sexy in her photos – her natural look was amazing. But, during the shoot I could see what was going on in her head – I would have her in a pose, it was great, but she would change her facial expression … her head told her that her face wasn’t sexy so she tried to change it. It wasn’t needed. All that practice and worry and stress FOR NOTHING!

I don’t want you to practice your sexy face. I’ll be able to get good looks out of you!

What I want you to practice is your posture!

Oh, posture. I’ll admit – because I keep it honest – my posture sucks. Just plain sucks. I’ll sit at the desk and just feel my shoulders come forward. In preparation for your photo shoot, I implore you to work on your posture! We want to elongate as much as we can, and posture can make or break a photo. And, during the shoot, I’ve even been known to tell clients to over accentuate their posture – the more uncomfortable it feels, the better it looks! 🙂

Forget practicing your sexy face – work on maintaining good posture. Put those shoulders back! I feel so much more confident when I do!
