Emily - Deciding to do a boudoir photo shoot was a big decision for me! Mine was slightly different than the typical boudoir as mine was focused around my pregnancy. I wasn’t sure if this was acceptable or normal to do but I knew I wanted to do something special for my husband involving our first pregnancy. I did a lot of research before deciding to do so. The minute I walked in the door to Maura’s studio, I knew I made the right decision. She made me feel welcome and comfortable even in my most uncomfortable pregnant state. She made me feel like we had been friends for years! It was so awesome to be treated like a queen for a day having my hair and make up done while being catered to with snacks and beverages (unfortunately no champagne for this pregnant lady). Then Maura made me feel like a famous model in front of the camera. We laughed and had a tremendous amount of fun for the entire shoot. She has a magical way of making you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. I was blown away by the outcome of the photos and how quickly Maura was able to edit them and send them to me. To sum it all up, Maura is nothing short of one of the most amazing people I’ve met. Her work and the entire boudoir experience is something I will cherish forever.
Leah P. - I had always dreamed of doing a professional photo shoot for no other reason/occasion other than to celebrate ME. My body has been through pain, suffering, surgeries, fertility treatment, childbearing and birth. Here I am, in all my glory and I am beautiful. Kate C. - My decision to do a boudoir shoot was not an easy one. I’ve deal with years of insecurity and poor self-image. In the months leading up to my wedding, I put a lot of time and effort into becoming healthier and feeling better. And I did. With this little boost of confidence, I thought to myself “why not?” So I did. I was referred to Maura by a friend who did a boudoir shoot prior to her wedding. Saying that I was nervous before the shoot is an understatement. It was borderline panic attack. However, moments after entering Maura’s home, it was clear that this was going to be okay. She immediately makes you feel like this is exactly what you were supposed to be doing at that moment in time. As if you were going into work. It was not uncomfortable, not forced, not pushy. It was a celebration of all the good things women strive so hard to achieve – confidence, self-worth, power. Tara S - I wanted to do a boudoir session for my husband for our 5th anniversary, but of course, I was 7 months pregnant. Thinking this isn’t possible, I still googled “maternity boudoir” anyway. I found a few people in the area and after viewing some of the sites, I narrowed it down to 2. My sister in law is a local newborn photographer so I sent her both links for her to scoop out for me. She immediately responded back with: “Pics by Chicks”!!!! and that she could tell she was mentored by Heather (Heather mentored my sister in law too). So I contacted Maura and from the second our email exchanged started, I was so excited! The entire process, from buying my outfits, to getting my pictures, was seamless!! I was so nervous on that 30 min drive to her house but the second I stepped into that house and she started shooting, I was so calm and relaxed. I felt AMAZING (even at 7 months pregnant!!) It’s so weird to read everyone else’s review saying how they were so nervous at first too. But the experience was truly life changing and that is all thanks to Maura’s amazing attitude and professionalism. I honestly left there never having felt so amazing, beautiful and confident in my life. It was a total transform and to be treated like a queen for the day – nothing compares! I love Maura for treating me to that experience and can’t wait to do it again sometime!

This quote is a great translation as to what my boudoir session meant to me. It is my feeling everyone comes to Maura for different reasons but all with one common purpose; self-expression. For some this could be an expression of confidence, sexuality, art, courage, or love. For me it was all four. I am a young, conservative workaholic who is in love with her long-time boyfriend, but at the same time not the perfect communicator or expresser. My boudoir shoot was an important outlet but also challenge for a girl who does not always make time for herself. My shoot with Maura was professional, glamorous, fun, and exhilarating! I can say it is one of the things I am most proud of in my recent years. I think I told Maura at least 20 times “I so needed this.” I did this for my other half, but it ended up being more for me by the end. And the photos themselves, words cannot describe the perfection. I looked nothing short of ELEGANT and STUNNING! It is my feeling that everyone should have this experience. It is a beautiful avenue of promoting self love, confidence, and understanding. The take-away is inevitably greater than what you pay and it is something I will probably do again. This review may seem over the top for ‘just getting some photos taken’. But until you have a session with Maura you most certainly cannot judge..

Heather M - I am not a model. I have never had my photograph featured in magazines or been professionally photographed outside of this experience and my wedding. I am a size 12 on a good day, size 14 most day, wine and food loving, sometimes active, sometimes not, 30 something year old with body issues. I have hips and curves. I am you.
I’ve had two boudoir shoots with Maura. My first one was as a wedding gift to my husband. I was super nervous and some of the people I told about the shoot were less than supportive, making me question the decision even more. Let me just tell you that every doubt I ever had was gone the second I met Maura. It was like being reunited with on old friend. She makes you super comfortable. My favorite thing about working with Maura is her enthusiasm. She gets super excited about the pictures she is taking and makes you feel as if you are the most beautiful person ever. The photos were beyond what I could have ever imagined. The whole experience was super empowering. I have never felt more beautiful, especially in such small amounts of clothes. Because of that, I hold my head higher now, am more proud of my body and all its flaws, and stopped focusing on all my imperfections. (And my husband loved the gift, if you were wondering.)
I would highly recommend boudoir photography to every woman. It is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. And trust me when I say, Maura is the person to shoot you. She is simply THE BEST Pittsburgh has. Her pictures are sexy, sultry, beautiful, glamorous, and just perfection. Her eye for detail is amazing and she will do anything for her clients. I can not sing her praise enough. I would recommend her a thousand times over.
Tracy - I am not a very sexy like type… I do not really get sexy my lingerie is usually a big t-shirt… But I thought since my husband is deployed for a year that I would do a boudoir pictures for him… I was very hesitant but Maura made it one of the best experience of my life, we had so much fun and she made me feel so sexy and comfortable!!!!
