Pop of Pink Boudoir

I love my job as a Pittsburgh Boudoir Photographer – I love it even more when a friend comes in for their boudoir session.   I’ve known this beautiful woman since middle school when we played softball together.  She always made me laugh, and our boudoir photo shoot had no shortage of laughs.

Her husband and I encouraged her to do a boudoir session.  You see – sometimes women have a hard time seeing the beauty in themselves that I see.  I knew she would rock her shoot but she took some convincing.  She had the most alluring and sexy look in her eyes – it was like she was a professional model.  As a boudoir photographer, I see what others do not.  I have a gift in pulling out that sexy side of you that may have gotten lost throughout the years.  Job, husband, kids…the list goes on.  Everyone comes before you.  But, you must give yourself some love and attention.  Your life will only be made better when you make yourself feel good about YOU!

What a fun FUN session and so many great and amazing photos to choose from for sharing on the blog.  These are just a few photos from a pink outfit that I had in my boudoir outfit collection.  The options for styling continues to grow and I love being able to have a big collection of items on hand for women to use during the shoot.  Sometimes you may purchase something and it doesn’t really work in the photos – no problem.  I have tons of options to offer clients – maybe I spend too much money on these outfits but that’s for another blog post.  haha.  🙂

Enjoy a few images from her session.

Edgy Boudoir

This was a different styled shoot for this Pittsburgh boudoir photographer and it’s not something I typically do.  I was trying to expand my boudoir offerings and style of shooting and wanted to do something completely different.  And, you can see how different this is when you compare it to my other boudoir photo shoots.

The truth is I’m always on the lookout for cool locations.  I have an odd love for abandoned buildings.  I see cool and unique things in buildings that people often look passed.  When I found this location, I knew it would be super cool and very unique for an edgy & industrial themed boudoir photo shoot.  And, I knew the perfect woman to help me test out this new location.

I was able to use light in a different way than I do in the studio.  While it’s different, it is an option for those who want a unique kind of boudoir.  This location is something I’m so happy to have found and has so many cool features inside.  I’m excited to go back and shoot some more in this location – whether that’s boudoir or another type of session.

If you were interested in scheduling a session like this, please reach out to me to to talk about a uniquely designed boudoir session.

Mike & Raeann’s Wedding

Rain is always a touchy thing on wedding days, but as a Pittsburgh wedding photographer you have to roll with the punches.  It was raining on and off all day on Mike and Raeann’s wedding day but being in western PA you have to expect this kind of weather.

But, who cares!  I don’t.  Rain or no rain – I’ll get those important photos!

Mike & Raeann had a beautiful wedding at Blueberry Hill Park in Franklin Park.  It was such an honor to be a part of their special day.  I see love in all my couples but the one thing I’ve always noticed about this couple is the way that Mike looks at Raeann.  There is so much love and affection in his gaze, and it always makes me smile.  As a wedding photographer, I’m always looking at those little things that you might not notice, and that for me, with this couple, was Mike’s love.

I enjoyed all the photo opportunities at Blueberry Hill Park and Raeann gave me tons of time to do their bridal portraits, which is always an added bonus.  I wish I had this much time with every couple!  Raeann had expressed to me a few times that photos of her and Mike were the most important thing of the day.  Inside I screamed, “YES!!”

Here are just a few photos from their wedding day.

See that rain starting to fall outside the pavilion?  Well, it was decision time on whether to move the ceremony inside…they did. I felt so bad for Raeann – I know she had her heart set on having her wedding outside.

Of course, at the start of their ceremony, the rain stopped but it was too late to move everything back outside.  But, I was very thankful that the rain stopped shortly so we could take their photos!186

Well, they didn’t have their ceremony in the pavilion but I was certainly going to take them back there to get some photos for them.  232A233234241

Themed Boudoir Session – Boho Chic (Hippie)

Today’s theme for a boudoir shoot is a Hippie Chic or Boho styled session.  This takes an open mind and trust in your photographer. When looking at outfits for a hippie chic session, you need to have the vision – sometimes it’s hard to see these items in a boudoir shoot because they can look like normal clothes.  My advice – remember that you’ll have super sexy hair and makeup, and your photographer should know posing tat’s going to bring out the sexiness of hippie chic.

Here are my picks for what to wear for a hippie chic photo shoot.

dressLong dresses

Long dresses but more specifically long flowing dresses.  You can have any kind of pattern but I love a whimsical dress with a beautiful & subtle floral pattern.  Try to stay away from those heavy fabrics.  Think chiffon.  You need have a dress that will show movement.  Maxi dresses work very well too.  This dress is from Rotita.

tunicTunics

A couple ideas with tunics – lace, ruffles and crochet items are a must for a hippie chic session.  I love when my clients bring lace tank tops.  I do recommend for this kind of themed session that the tops you bring are a little oversized.  I don’t typically recommend bringing items that are too big but it would work for this kind of session.  This item is from Gypsan.com.

romperRomper

Oh, yes, a romper.  I really tried to resist the urge to put a romper on this list but they are 1) in style right now; 2) perfect for a hippie chic session.  This item is from ShopPlanetBlue.com.  Because of it’s neutral color it can be easily styled with some jewelry and killer heels that would perfectly match the session theme.  As with the dresses, try to keep the fabric very light and airy – no heavy fabric.

jeans

Jeans and a headband

What better and more simple outfit than just jean (even jean shorts) and a super cute headband.  Add a super cute lace bra and it’s a perfect combination for your themed session.  As with the other items, make sure the shorts are not tight – you have to have room to move (are you noticing a trend in my advice?!?).  Here is an image I found on Upbeat Soles that highlights perfectly the styling.

One big tip & idea – have your boudoir session outside!  Fields of tall grass would be perfect for a hippie chic session!

Outdoor Boudoir Vision

As a boudoir photographer, when an idea for a boudoir photo pops into my mind, I have a hard time focusing on anything else until I can get my vision from my head, to my camera and then to my computer.  This photo shoot was MONTHS in the making.  We had to wait for the weather to get warmer and I had so many styling ideas for her wardrobe.

This shoot is a combination of so many wonderful things – perfect client, great hair, wonderful makeup, stunning wardrobe, amazing location, fabulous posing, wonderful light, and great editing.  I love when all these things come together.  I get excited.  This beautiful woman could tell you that I was screaming with delight the entire time during her boudoir photo shoot.

Producing a boudoir photo is magic for me.  This job is so fabulous and I love every minute of working with all the women in the Pittsburgh area.

After this shoot, I’ve decided to start offering styling options for clients.  You give me the budget and I’ll shop for you knowing what will and won’t work for your body.  This shoot only convinced me more that I can do all the styling for your session.  Though not necessary it’s a service I’m happy to be able to offer to my clients!

So for now I leave you with just a few photos from her shoot as a preview of what is to come.  I can’t WAIT to really get into her photos and look at everything else we got during her shoot.
